My name is Zanasoa, I am 51 years old and I come from Vohibato, a town located 736km from Tamatave.

I lived with fistula for 30 years. My husband rejected me because of my condition and I was forced to return to my parents’ home.

I developed fistula after a prolonged labour that lasted 3 long days. The leakage began immediately after my baby was born.

I was shocked to discover this condition, which I had never even heard of before.

Life quickly became unbearable. People shunned me because of the smell, as if being constantly was was not already hard enough to endure.

One day, I heard about Fabrice, who was raising awareness about fistula in my village. I decided to follow him to seek another surgery, since my first one elsewhere had failed.

At the Fistula Care Centre the team welcomed me with warmth, treated me with kindess and provided excellent care.

Today, I have my life back and I am deeply grateful to the entire team for restoring my health and dignity.
