Christiana, 18 years old

Christiana’s parents separated when she was nine years old and she was sent to stay with her grandmother in Freetown, close to the beach area. Unfortunately her granny was not able to pay Christiana’s school fees, even a daily meal was a challenge.

To survive Christiana dated a man, hoping he would support her going back to school. She offered her body for food and school fees but ended up pregnant and the man ran away.

Like Isata, Christiana was supported through her pregnancy and safe delivery at AWC and was invited to join our Skills Training Centre. She is now working in a local restaurant, able to support herself and her little one.
