Patient Stories: Rosina

At the age of 86, Rosina had carried the burden of fistula for an astonishing forty years.

Over the decades, Rosina faced not only the physical challenges of fistula but also the abandonment by her husband. Unable to cope with her condition, he left her to navigate life alone.

Géline, a midwife from Rosina's village and a dedicated volunteer ambassador for Freedom from Fistula in Madagascar met with Rosina and brought her to our Fistula Care Centre for treatment.

Rosina underwent life-changing surgery and returned home healed after four decades of suffering.

Rosina's story is a powerful reminder that there are countless women living with fistula who may not even be aware of the possibility of healing.
