JFK Hospital – Monrovia, Liberia

image of hospital before renovationFollowing an extensive 18 month refit funded personally by Ann Gloag (Founder of Freedom From Fistula Foundation), two floors of the JFK Hospital in Monrovia were opened in March 2009.

As part of the reconstruction, the JFK hospital now has a dedicated programme to treat obstetric fistula patients and we are working hard to ensure local doctors are trained and available to provide the surgeries.

The Freedom From Fistula Foundation supports the work of the JFK Hospital fistula programme by funding surgeries and training programmes, as well as providing equipment and supplies.

In honour of her personal dedication to restoring the JFK Hospital and her commitment to helping women suffering from obstetric fistula, Ann Gloag was presented with the Order of The Star of Africa by the President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf – Africa’s first and only female President.
